Refugee

In December of 2022, I read a book called Refugee. It was very interesting and so I wanted to share it with people reading this article.

There were three characters: Josef, Isabel, and Mahmoud. Josef is a Jewish boy living in 1939, the beginning of WW2, and the beginning of The Nazi’s. Josef needs to escape Germany. He travels around the world just to end up in France. Isabel is a Cuban girl living with Raul Castro as a president and she is trying to escape Cuba. The president did not let anyone leave Cuba. Mahmoud’s story takes place in Syria in 2015. Mahmoud’s apartment was bombed. He has two siblings: Waleed, a boy that is about seven, and a baby sister, Hanna. He ends up having to run away to Germany.

There is a HUGE plot twist near the end. It would be nice to tell you everything that happens, but that would spoil it.

I found the book interesting because it isn’t actually real but it was based on a true story. Josef is a boy that had to leave germany; Isabel is a girl that has to leave cuba; and Mahmoud is a boy that has to leave Syria; all things that actually happen with people at those times with those situations.

In conclusion, I think that the main reason I really wanted to talk about this and share it is because I love science fiction and I think that it helps people understand real world things that are happening and/or things that happened in the past.
